West Midland Safari Park becomes theme park?

West Midland Safari Park will open a £1million amusement ride in time for the school holidays to help it rival theme parks such as Alton Towers as the region's top tourist spot for families and young children.

The Wild River Rafting ride, the first of its kind in the country, holds 150,000 gallons of water to give thrill seekers a two-minute ride.

The park at Bewdley already has a tamer log flume, but the new ride promises "a lot of of bumping up and down and getting very wet".

It is a new direction for the park which normally concentrates on bigger and better animals rather than thrill-seeking amusements.
